Bridgeport, CT – On Thursday, Bridgeport Mayor Ganim visited the Bridgeport Fire Department to meet the BFD Recruit Class #65 before they embark on their mission to start training at the Connecticut Fire Academy located in Windsor Locks on Monday, February 10th.
All fifteen recruits—thirteen male and two female-- reside in Bridgeport and are Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certified. The firefighters in training will undergo a 70-day, 14 week resident course that focuses on developing the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to optimally perform on the job.
Mayor Ganim stated, “All through the ranks, you’ll find that the leadership in our Fire Department understands the challenges of the job, but also how to engage with and serve the community. You’ve made it this far and there’s no doubt in my mind that you will be a part of the success of this Department.”
Bridgeport Fire Department Recruit Class #65 returns home to Bridgeport and will be officially sworn in June 2020.
