“I am excited to create an early childhood education center that focuses on thoughtful play-based learning,” said Secko-Pagan. “Our state-of-the-art facility is so much more than a stand-alone day care center. The Education Station includes a new playground, designated gross motor room, and technology that allows parents to feel like they are actually in the classroom. In addition, it will incorporate all that the IC has to offer, including swim lessons and use of the gymnasium.”
“We are delighted that Lauren is leading the creation of our brand new early childhood education center,” said Paul Hickey, Executive Director. “She brings a wealth of experience to the role and a vision for the center that we feel will meet the needs of our community.”
Secko has worked in early childhood education for more than a decade. She began her career as a pre-k teacher in Long Island, later moving to Connecticut where she was a preschool teacher at Building Blocks in Stamford and most recently the Infant-Preschool Director at the New Canaan Y. Lauren holds a bachelor’s degree from UConn’s Neag School of Education, and a master’s in Organizational Leadership.
Fall 2018 enrollment is open now. The Education Station is a full-day, year-round early childhood education center for infants through preschool age children. Additional information is available at http://www.italiancenter.org/preschool-camps/preschool-education-station.
