Stamford, CT - Stamford Public Schools (SPS) Superintendent Earl Kim announced that at the November regular meeting, the Board of Education (BOE) took the second of two necessary votes to approve a new Mission and Vision for the district. The first vote was taken at the October regular meeting. The BOE approved BOE Policy #0000:
The mission of the Stamford Public Schools is to provide an education that cultivates productive habits of mind, body and heart in every student.
Additionally, the BOE approved BOE Policy #0100:
The Stamford Public Schools will be a learning organization that continuously improves its effective, innovative and transformational teaching and learning. We will challenge, inspire and prepare all students to be productive contributing members of society.
The mission and vision are part of the SPS ongoing long-term visioning and strategic planning process, which it has been conducting in partnership with Cambridge Education over the past year.
Currently, the district is finalizing five-year goals, objectives and initiatives that will have the greatest impact on student outcomes in support of the mission and vision. Over the next few months, with the input of staff, students, parents and community members, the district will create a communications plan to more broadly share the mission, vision and progress of the district.
