MILFORD, CT – The Council On Accreditation (COA) has awarded Boys & Girls Village with reaccreditation for its ongoing demonstrated expertise and commitment to quality in serving Connecticut’s at-risk children and their families. Boys & Girls Village has been accredited by COA since 1993.

Boys & Girls Village is a statewide leader in providing mental health treatment, permanency planning and educational services for Connecticut’s most vulnerable youth. The organization achieved COA reaccreditation in April based on rigorous evaluation of its ability to provide services that meet or exceed nationally and internationally established standards of excellence.

The in-depth accreditation process, which took over a year, provided a detailed review of the entire organization, including administration, management, service provision, and service delivery. The process recognized Boys & Girls Village’s exemplary performance and the accreditation remains in place through 2025.

Some organizational strengths cited in the evaluation included evaluating the organization to have an excellent evidence-based Child and Family Development program, a high-quality foster care program, and that it offers a wide range of family preservation services and delivers residential treatment services that are much needed in the community.

“We are committed to delivering the highest standard of care for our clients, and that requires continuous pursuit of implementing best practice standards,” said Kim Shaunesey, Ph.D., President & CEO of Boys & Girls Village. “This reaccreditation reflects that dedication and shows that we are among the best in the nation in serving at-risk youth and their families.”

Founded in 1977, COA is an objective, international, independent, nonprofit organization that accredits human and social service providers. Their mission is to partner with human and social service organizations to strengthen their ability to improve the lives of the people they serve.
